Saint Henry Sargophagus explained

This summer I had little "pilgrimage" to finnish church at Nousiainen. It was place were medieval bishop was buried, and later Maunu II Tavast donated sargophagus to church. This recipe is from House from The Hill website. Do try it! Usually such recipe works only with cookie stamps and fine details might disappear during baking. However it is quite good one, as you might see some details from Gene Wilson cookie stamps did maintain well too.

Oh my lollipop!

When I visited annual fish market here at Turku few weeks ago, I asked how Estonian candy and almond merchant prepared her rooster lollipops. Most helpful and pretty lady told me that these lollipops are prepared with wooden mold, and I would be welcome to visit both shop and workshop at Pärnu, Estonia. How wonderful!

Pryaniki with a big cookie mold

Earlier I used Gene Wilson cookie stamps for pryaniki, russian gingerbread with jam filling. After little brainstorm I decided to try out Olda's cookie mold for same purpose. Dough requires bit adjustment for good picture details, but it looks promising!

Decorating homemade candy with cookie molds have been in my mind for long, but I am totally newbie when it comes making candy. One attempt to prepare fudge did not go that well. It was dark, chewy (too much) and sticky against mold. This new recipe is excellent. It results soft, creamy fudge and works pretty well with cookie molds.

Beeswax ornaments for Easter

It is easy to prepare your own Easter decorations from beeswax using cookie molds. I tried this time lollipop -style decorations. Gene Wilson's rooster and hen in nest brings memories from genuine countryside Easter. Did you know that rooster is symbol of good luck and happiness, and is often placed at kitchen in form of some sort of decoration.

This particular german christmas treat kept me on the edge for good two years, untill I managed to have good result after two disaster.

Vanilla shortbread cookies

Sometimes it is worth of risk just try out some recipe what is usual cookie recipe. Shortbread style cookies usually works fine, since they do not require leavening agent due high butter content. Only tricky part might be molding, since butter gets very soft after handling.

Thorner Kathrinchen: Catherine's gingerbread

Toruń gingerbread, also known as Thorner Kathrinchen (german) or Toruńskie pierniki (polish), is known at Poland where it comes, aswell at Germany. In past Toruń and Nürnberg were gingerbread rivals, untill agreement was made and both city offered gingerbread from fellow gingerbread town too. This recipe needs re-adjustment for cookie molds, but it will result amazing gingerbread for cookie cutters.

Honey Cream Cookies

I tried this cookie recipe few times and it gives extremely good result with design. Taste and texture still requires some work because with deep cavity molds these can result very dense cookie. Use strong flavoured honey for good taste.

This is little cake for dad, as Father's day is celebrated at Finland 2th sunday of november. Topping is commercial white marzipan and below is usual cake filling. Mold gives view to old Turku, sight what can't be seen today: Buildings except Turku Cathedral were destroyed in Great Fire of Turku 1827.
